TrueNAS® Flash-Powered Arrays
TrueProtection • TrueAvailability • TrueUnification
ZFS-based enterprise open source storage
For over twenty years iXsystems has been the first choice for storage and servers controlled by open source, and we are also the developers of TrueNAS®.
Thanks to our unique convergence of hardware, software and storage know-how, we offer you the award-winning TrueNAS flash turbocharger platform for enterprise open storage platforms, which offers reliability and performance at a value unmatched for storage.
TrueNAS unifies storage access, grows to nearly 10 PB in a rack, is available in hybrid and all-flash configurations, has features that allow you to stand out from the cloud and save over 70% on AWS. The ZFS file system ensures that data is kept pristine and secure.
One of the key technologies we use in TrueNAS is the ZFS file system.
TrueNAS can be integrated into all major backup providers and virtual machine environments and is certified with Veeam Backup and Replication, Citrix and VMware. It supports VMware snapshots and has a vCenter plug-in. It is also integrated with Microsoft CSV, ODX and VSS.
TrueNAS offers flexibility of choice and offers SMB, AFP and NFS for file storage, iSCSI and Fiber Channel for block storage, and S3-compatible APIs for object storage. Every common operating system, hypervisor and every application is supported.
TrueNAS uses OpenZFS to provide unlimited snapshots at specific points in time so you can undo and access previous versions of the data. TrueNAS is a best practice to prevent virtual machine corruption, user error, and ransomware attacks.
TrueNAS Core is the enterprise version of TrueNAS, the # 1 software-defined storage operating system.
With TrueNAS, iXsystems has made the enterprise-class OpenZFS file system available to more users than anyone. We pride ourselves on working closely with the open source community to make OpenZFS the best filesystem ever written.
ZFS is a future-proof 128-bit “scale-up” file system that was developed for decades of continuous use.
TrueNAS grows from hundreds of GBs to 10 PB per system and is designed to make increasing capacity painless.
The TrueNAS, charged with flash turbochargers, offers a perfect price-performance ratio that puts many pure flash arrays in the shade. It uses TrueCache ™ to harness RAM, flash memory, and spinning hard drives for flash-like performance with the capacity and economy of spinning hard drives.
The lack of uniform support across many other storage arrays affects data usage and sharing around the world, and increases the total cost of ownership for storage.
TrueNAS offers:
Uniform access to multiple files using different block, file and object protocols.
Reduce the number of storage arrays required to support applications.
The ability to build a private cloud instead of relying on expensive cloud storage services.
As a true enterprise storage platform, TrueNAS offers models that meet very demanding performance and capacity requirements. In the upper area, the TrueNAS M50 has up to four active 100 GbE ports, 3 TB RAM, 32 GB NVDIMM write cache and up to 15 TB NVMe flash read cache. Solid-state performance with capacity and costs for the spinning hard drive – that’s what Flash Turbo TrueNAS offers you.
There’s no question that TrueNAS is the best value for enterprise storage.
TrueNAS offers unique data protection through the use of the OpenZFS company file system. OpenZFS is a next-generation filesystem in every way, from its self-healing bit-attenuation to its flexible snapshot and replication. Windows users can integrate TrueNAS into Windows Explorer using the Previous Versions tab. These features provide simple and efficient recovery points for physical and virtual business-critical applications.
We built on the quality of our service and support and want you to see our team as an extension of your team. iXsystems offers tiered support to meet the specific needs of every company. We support your storage provisioning so you don’t have to look for expensive services or additional hardware. In fact, customers say the support they get with TrueNAS is top notch, and they prefer our support to other providers.
With TrueNAS, no long waiting times are checked on the file system during booting. TrueNAS uses TrueCache ™ to combine DRAM and non-volatile flash with high density spinning disks to create a flash turbo architecture. TrueCache uses algorithms to ensure that data is stored on the fastest system storage media. Using these algorithms in combination with Flash-based read and write caching increases performance by orders of magnitude at minimal cost.
TrueNAS intelligently compresses what it can and skips any data that is too inefficient to be worthwhile. Deduplication finds shared blocks between different applications or VMs. This memory optimization reduces the size of the data written to storage media, increases performance and makes optimal use of every byte of memory.
TrueNAS storage is designed for use around the clock. As data grows, expanding TrueNAS storage is easy and nondisruptive. To upgrade a TrueNAS model to high availability, simply add a second storage controller.
High availability ensures that data is available at all times, that almost all storage needs are met, and the total cost of ownership is reduced to levels previously not possible with an enterprise storage array. With TrueNAS, downtime is not an option.
TrueNAS accelerates ROI by offering better value than many other storage providers. With TrueNAS, you don’t pay separately for features like snapshots / clones, unified logs and replication.
If further functions are required in the future, there are no additional license costs.
We are passionate about open source because we believe in the open flow of information and the innovations it promotes. We were the first to offer enterprise storage on an open source basis. The open source development model enables us to release a more secure, stable, and feature rich product faster than our competitors. Open source also gives us direct access to a community of users and testers who provide feedback and feature requests, thus accelerating our speed of innovation.
The open source technology enables us to outperform the competition in terms of features and price, which enables us to achieve the highest value, lowest cost and best return on investment for our customers. We develop FreeNAS, the open source version of TrueNAS. FreeNAS has been open source software since its inception in late 2005 and, with 10 million downloads, is the world’s largest software-defined storage operating system.
